Getting your home ready for sale does not have to be an expensive or daunting process.
Here are some simple and cost-effective tips to prepare your home for sale:
1. Give your home a fresh coat of paint
Choosing light, neutral colours will help make rooms appear larger and enable potential buyers to picture their belongings in the home.
2. Get in the garden
Mow and fertilise the lawn, weed and mulch the garden and trim overgrown trees and bushes. Ensure your reticulation and sprinklers are working.
3. Declutter
Clean, tidy and declutter your home for photos and inspections.
Make some extra money from selling your unwanted items at swap meets, via a garage sale or selling them online.
Utilise tip passes (if you have them) to dispose of items that are not able to be sold.
4. Maintenance
Carry out any necessary repairs such as fixing door locks and door handles, fly screens and replace light bulbs. Check that blinds or curtains can be opened and closed.
5. Make Buyers Comfortable
Open the blinds and windows and let the sunshine in!
Turn on the air conditioner on a warm day prior to inspections and the heater on during the chilly days so that potential buyers feel comfortable and take more time to view the home.
